Description Family Musaceae Originating from north-east India Beautifully burgundy striped, tantalisingly tiger like and impossibly hardy for such an outrageously tropical looking plant. Its huge deep green herbaceous leaves are stunningly marked with deep burgundy/brown stripes when young, becoming all green as they mature. It is root hardy in most winters, benefiting from a mulch of straw in colder locations. Indispensable in exotic, tropical and jungle gardens, it can also be grown in large pots placed on a patio for summer. Easy to grow in any soil type in full sun or part shade. Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 2m x 1m.
